a bit about my work

There is no one medium for me. Lately, my focus has been acrylic abstracts, figurative clay, paper sculpt/manipulation/sewing, and digital designs for needlepoint canvas - all sensory art, moving emotion from the folds of life.

My paintings are a study in color, value, layering, and sgraffito - the additive and subtractive expression of experiences in the world today. Figurative clay takes an ethereal route, starting from the denizen keepers of the earth to more organic pieces. Paper sculpts study the medium's characteristic capabilities and the possible. Light, dark, movement - left to its own devices—all discoveries - with expectations expressing forward movement.

Digital needlepoint canvases are just plain fun. I love working with my client - reigniting the joy of repetition, rhythm, and unique outcomes.

"I'm intrigued by what can be found behind materials and expressing that utilization. Exploring the why, why not, stepping back, and wondering how I got there."

What I see, feel, and experience as dis-rest manifests in my paintings which give me solace and hope in their problem-solving. My clay ‘Keepers of the Forest’ series tells of a supporting cast, the behind-the-scenes wielders of gentle power.

My art helps me ponder and retreat into my labyrinth, giving my busy mind a place to land and find peace. Hopefully, it tells a story that evokes contemplation for others.
